Seattle underwent a tremendous change to Washington State's largest town, built partially on its thriving economy, today it is an energized, future-oriented community at the forefront of creativity.
Because the weather is drab for most of the year, Locals and tourists are far more encouraged to take advantage of outdoor sports whenever the weather permits. And in combination with the diverse scenery, there's plenty for everybody. Seattle is lovely whether you want to hike, fish, slope, sail, or canoe.
Seattle is a city full of breathtaking skyscrapers between the salty Puget Sound, the western Olympic Mountains, and Cascade mountains across Washington Lake to the east. You can capture a futuristic urban skyline in either direction that squeezes into the majesty of the Pacific Northwest.
Seattle provides a large variety of museums, irrespective of what you'd like. Visit the History and Industry Museum of the Klondike Gold Rush Museum to learn about the local history. There are several museums of art and music and the Popular Culture Center, where you can also learn to play an instrument. The Flight Museum, one of the world's biggest air and space museums, is naturally also located here.
Seattle's attractions include Space Needle, Pike Place, Gum Wall, Ballard locks, and Fremont Troll, which offers a wide range of tourist spots that can't be found anywhere.
Initially designed for the World Fair, Seattle Centre, along with its famed Space Needle and Monorail, and since then, the park with its theaters, recreational centers, and restaurants has become a leisure facility. Modern tourism destinations today take root in Chihuly Garden and Glass. They include musical experiences from the Experience Music Project and spectacular glass artworks.
The Seattle Center itself provides one of the best places to visit in the city in winter, with festive festivals such as the annual Winterfest with family-run and free attractions.
Seattle is regarded for its 605-foot-tall Space Needle, with a quirky style that looks like UFO. The round viewing area of the tower (520 feet high) has fantastic views of the city and surrounding Olympic Mountains. The Loupe, a rotating glass floor, is its new feature and a café and a wine bar are both on top of the needle.
This busy seaside area is popular during spring, summer, and fall as a tourist destination. Over 200 proprietary shops range from antiques and collectibles to book stores and quirky niche shops, as well as a large number of food options. A craft store of local and international designers is now part of the landmark 9 acres shopping paradise.
The galleries and exhibitions display the pioneering glassblower Dale Chihuly's works, one of Seattle's most giant gems. Chihuly's work is renowned for its sheer imaginative use of glass and the creation of sculptures that captivate spectators. Besides eight galleries, tourists can see in the Glasshouse one of his biggest paintings, in which the colors and appearances of the installation shift with the shifting sunlight above it. The artist's life and craft and regular gallery talks and tours are also presented in the video.
Discovery Park is the largest open space in the region and covers more than 500 hectares in northern Seattle. There are plenty of walking paths, wilderness, beaches, and dunes. The West Point Lighthouse is one must-see, accessed through the North Beach Trail, while the South Beach Trail leads to a magnificent view of Rainier Mountain and the city skyline.
From September through October is the best time to visit Seattle. Summer marks the peak season in the town, which means room prices increase with declines in availability, while cold winters will prevent even the busiest visitors.
